Don’t miss all of Kensington Garden Festival’s events across the weekend of 20-21 October.
Times to be announced
The Festival will showcase Kensington's green spaces, both public and private. It is based on a self-guided walking tour of Kensington, where people can see a variety of different things and take part in several activities. Some private gardens will be open to the public through the Open Gardens Victoria Scheme, others will be visible from the street. There will be community gardens and green spaces open, along with demonstrations, plant sales, competitions and other activities. The range is limited only by the imagination of our community.
Some of the activities include:
Self guided walking tour taking in all the things to see and do
Private gardens open to visit (some through the Open Gardens Victoria Scheme)
Private gardens to see from the pavement (such as front gardens)
Community gardens such as the Stockyards Community Garden
Community planted areas such as the Kensington Railway Station Gardens
Public spaces to visit such as the Women's Peace Garden and Skinny Park
Competitions for lots of different things, such as 'Scarecrow', 'Best Hanging Basket', 'Best Shop Display', 'Tallest Sunflower', etc.
Demonstrations and talks related to gardens
Plant sales, bakery sales, lemonade stands
Activities involving other community groups, such as local history tours, community and social group activities
